Maria Samora: Inspired by Nature
Maria Samora's jewelry are marvels in the making. Her designs, "arise independently, from nature," and are described by Maria as being "natural forms made contemporary."
Although she has been invited to exhibit at the Smithsonian, amongst many other honors and awards, including first place in her Indian Market category, Maria feels that she "is barley scratching the surface."
Maria didn't become actively immersed in jewelry making until after she received a Taos Institute of Art Scholarship to study with world-renowned goldsmith Phil Poirier. A five year apprenticeship ensued and the ongoing mentorship continues to elevate Maria's work to new heights.
